With over 15 years of dedicated experience as a personal trainer and strength coach, Andy Baker is one of the premier strength and fitness experts in the industry. Andy is one of the recognized industry leaders in strength & conditioning training for middle aged adults and seniors.
In 2016, Andy released his second book The Barbell Prescription: Strength Training for Life After 40 along with co-author Dr. Jonathan Sullivan. The Barbell Prescription is the only published work available that provides and detailed rationale and protocol for strength training for seniors.
While Andy’s work now primarily focuses on strength training for older adults, Baker Personal Training has been the training home for many of Kingwood’s top athletes. Under Andy’s guidance, Baker Personal Training has produced Division I college athletes in a wide variety of sports including swimming, football, baseball, volleyball, rowing, and track & field to some of the nation’s top athletic programs including University of Oklahoma, University of Texas, Notre Dame, Arizona State, Auburn, TCU, and the Naval Academy.
In addition to opening Baker Personal Training in 2007, Andy has been a featured speaker at many prominent industry events, and is the co-author of the best-selling Practical Programming for Strength Training with industry icon Mark Rippetoe.
Andy is a former U.S. Marine and was proud to serve multiple tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom between 2003-2007. While serving on active duty Andy received his undergraduate degree in Health & Sport Science from the American Military University. Andy also holds the industry’s highest credentials available from the National Strength & Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting, and is a certified Starting Strength Coach.
Andy is a life-long Kingwood native, a graduate of Kingwood High School, and currently resides in Kingwood with his wife and 3 children.
